Moers wird zum bundesweiten Spitzenzentrum für Fechter gekürt
Fechtclub Moers zum "Landesleistungszentrum mit bundesweiter Bedeutung" ernannt
Die Auszeichnung wurde im Rahmen des Sparkassen Cups verliehen, einem großen zweitägigen Fechtturnier in der Stadt. Offizielle Gäste und Zuschauer verfolgten gespannt die Finalkämpfe in der Sparkassen-Fechthalle.
Der Wettbewerb begann mit Vorrunden in der Turnhalle der Pattberg-Realschule. Numerous visitors filled the facilities, while fencers from all over Germany started. The organization of the event received praise from the delegation of the German Fencing Association.
Markus Tenbergen, chairman of the Fechtclub Moers, led the event. His club now belongs to an exclusive circle of top training centers for young fencers. Only two other federal states - Bavaria (Tauberbischofsheim) and Hesse (Offenbach) - have a comparable national recognition.
The audience filled the arena to the last seat and thus set the final point under a well-attended tournament. The award further cements Moers' reputation as a central location for fencing promotion in Germany.
With the appointment, Moers joins nine nationwide elite forges of fencing. Young athletes will benefit in the future from improved training conditions and high-quality care. The success of the club underscores its growing importance in German fencing.
